Mauro and The Grooms
Early Summer 2003 a new band named Mauro Pawlowski and The Grooms was unveiled. This meant a new sound which was, as promised by the official site, indeed more aggressive and rock sounding than previous Mauro solo work.
Herman Houbrechts on drums, Steven Janssens on guitar, Jan Wygers on bass and David Joris on keyboards. The first Grooms EP entitled Ghost Rock was released in June 2003. The full album Black Europa followed soon afterwards. It was produced by Luc Van Acker and has a distinctively cold, industrial sound. It got rave reviews and the band started touring the club circuit and the festivals in Belgium during 2003 and 2004, with even a gig in France and Denmark. The set contained most songs of the Black Europa album and a healthy mix of some Somnabula classics, Songs from a bad hat material, a couple of covers played solo by Mauro and even a beefy version of the mighty Evil Superstars songs Holy Spirit Come Home and I Can't Seem To Fuck Things Up. In the Monty in Antwerp, Tim Vanhamel joins the band on stage for an extra beefy version of Holy Spirit Come Home.Tired Of Being Young gets released as the single from the Black Europa album and the B-side, Set Sail To Dream Riot, is a brilliant compilation of take-outs from the record.
Mauro and the Grooms took it to the next level during 2008, with a new series of gigs. They came with new band member Pascal Deweze (keyboards, guitar) and new songs. Enough material to fill a second album...
